The Hook is another interesting kanji character in calligraphy form found often around temples and shrines in Japan. I like the color contrast and scratchy feel of the photo.

These birds are abundant in Japan and quite frankly they bother me more than I enjoy them. They are extremely aggressive when you have food around and I think they come much too close to kids and me sometimes. With that said, they occasionally make for some interesting subjects and I particularly liked this shot with the grunge and off color background.

Flash Light Motion

I moved the camera a bit to get a motion blur effect. The background is a blue plastic tarp with holes in it. There is also a second layer of rope in the background. I particularly like the blue tones and the slight 3D feel of the photograph.

Kanji Japan is a photography collection of Hiragana, Katakana, and Kanji that make up the Japanese writing system. I find these writing characters to be an artform in itself and are a joy to photograph. Self Portrait Car Profile – It’s quite limiting sitting in the car and looking for ways to do self portraits. In this photo I had the Nikon D70s setting on the steering wheel. I had it focused for a certain distance and I pressed the shutter with my left hand. Tricky but it worked. I usually keep my old Nikon D70s and the Nikkor 20-35mm f/2.8 lens in the back seat of my car for those moments when I’m either bored or need a camera fast. You never know what you might run into!

Window Jock – I particularly like this candid shot of a Japanese Window Washer in downtown Nagano city. You can see he is looking right at me when I took the photo. I thought, what are you going to do? Run after me?….laugh…joke.

Japanese Monk in Zenkoji

This image depicts a Japanese monk walking up the main path to entrance of Zenkoji Temple in Nagano City, Japan. I often see these color monks when I hang around Zenkoji. They usually show up every hour or so. This particular monk was very colorful and quite friendly in appearance.

Nagoya Photoshoot

Nagoya was fantastic! I had a great time pounding the pavement taking some street shots and visiting some great sights. I highly recommend Nagoya has a great photography destinations. This fall I plan to go a couple of times for some model shoots and perhaps a photography meet. If anyone is interested in meeting up or attending a photoshoot, please contact me. Enjoy!
