Sunflower Sun Japan

Posted on August 21, 2009 by Jim Atwood in Flickr Japan | Comments

Sunflower Sun shows how big these guys can get. They are massive at times. I wanted to show more of the sunflower here, but honestly the background left a lot to be desired. Instead I elected to get down low and shoot at an angle to give add dimension and size. The petals are aging as you can see, but the central part of the sunflower is amazing. The detail is just astonishing to look at on these sunflowers.

The fun challenge of Photography is shooting something unexpected. I thought this was an interesting shot of the holes in this leaf.

Nagoya Green

Posted on April 28, 2008 by Jim Atwood in Flickr Japan | Comments

Nagoya Green is an attempt to capture the beautiful spring colors that were apearing around the Nagoya Castle grounds. As mentioned earlier, many of the flowers and shrubs I missed and so lots of things were withering, but this view I thought was very colorful and rich with green. This sort of setting was found all around the Castle grounds.
